Bibda (bib-duh) is a handmade papad made from fermented jowar (millet or sorghum) and is very close to the hearts of people in Khandesh (Northern Maharashtra). It is the result of painstaking labour and traditional recipes, handed down from generation to generation. Making Bibde is regarded as an occasion, which brings families together even today.
When you try Bibda, expect flavours you have never tasted before. The subtle sourness of fermentation and spices together make a unique combination. Since it is fermented and roasted, Bibda makes a very crispy, light and healthy snack. It’s also gluten free, so you can now munch away guilt-free!
